High Street, Auckland CBD

After having my Helios-44M lens for less than a week, I thought about selling it back online since I was actually quite happy with just using my former Meyer lens. But as soon as I saw what I can do with my Helios, I quickly changed my mind!

It's wonderful!! And these photos that I took earlier today just proves it all~

I personally like using this lens (Helios-44M) better when taking portraits outdoors compared to my Meyer lens. The Meyer lens would be great if I want to have that EXTREME bokeh and a soft-focus feel in my photos, but in terms of taking a nice and sharp portrait, this Helios is just awesome!

Karangahape Road

Karangahape Road or K'Road as the local calls it, is (to me) the place where all the true flavours of Auckland reside

I really hope one day (soon) I can really walk around and capture the essence of this truly amazing place (or road to be more precise)

I wanted to try and edit the photos so that they'll look somewhat like faded, old, film photos...it's so that the feel of K'Road being that 'village of all that is vintage' can be expressed....

but when I look back at these photos, it kinda made me go, "mmm...I'm not too sure about that~".....maybe 'cause I didn't even manage to capture anything 'vintage' in 'em

aahh, I need to ACTUALLY learn how to properly edit photos I guess.....

I didn't manage to get much 'cause I was kinda shy going snap snap snap all by myself ('cause people will start to either stare or run away when they see me snapping around....*sigh*)

but I'm gonna go again one of these days and try to get better shots! ('cause I really love K'Road ^^)

It tells you all about the place - where to shop, eat, its heritage etc. A good site if you want to know what's hot and what's not there ^^

I love B/W photography...I think it captures the true form and emotions of the subject without the distractions from colours and unwanted light reflections. And this B/W music video is one of the closest example from a moving camera that I can give to explain what I meant by all that.

When I watched this just now I thought to myself, "I want to shoot that!!!" (though ironically I've seen this videos dozens of times before...).

But seriously, I want to shoot something like this....somewhat like a 'Mourning Snow White' themed photo-shoot....

I wanna go out for a photography trip somewhere...I'm tired of capturing anything and everything from and within this little box of an apartment (though it's fun to see what different things you can capture each day using the same setting).....T~T
